About the Class:
Alter Space presents a one-of-a-kind comic book workshop taught by Eisner-nominated graphic novelist, Matt Silady. From story creation to page layout and publication tips, this workshop is designed for both the beginner comic creator as well as experienced writers and artists looking to maximize the potential of the comic book medium. If you’ve ever dreamt of writing or drawing a comic, this workshop is for you.
Course Schedule:
Five-session course running from May 27th to June 24th Classes are held every Sunday from 1-4pm
Materials:
All in class drawing supplies (such as pens and paper) will be provided for. Students are responsible for at home work supplies. Please bring any preferred materials that you like to work with.
Tuition:
$150 for the entire five-session course
Students must be 16 years of age or older
Enrollment limited to 12 students (0 spaces remaining)
(if the minimum requirement of 6 students is not filled this class will be cancelled)

About the Instructor:
A Chicagoland native, Matt Silady taught eighth grade for six years in Champaign, Illinois before moving west to study creative writing at the University of California at Davis. It was there he discovered comics as a medium for fine art.
In 2007, he published his first graphic novel, The Homeless Channel. The story about a television executive attempting to start a 24-hour cable network for the homeless was nominated for an Eisner award and featured in Entertainment Weekly. Since then, Matt accepted a teaching position at the California College of the Arts, where he’s helped expand the college’s graphic novel curriculum and served as both an undergraduate and graduate mentor in the Writing and Literature Program.

Hey, just wondering if there’s any news regarding an
upcoming comics workshop?? I had signed up for the first one but
wasn’t able to attend and am still sad about it! I sent my payment
in but wasn’t able to be refunded so I’m really hoping to be able
to do the next one…
